The immediate past Pro-chancellor and Chairman of Council, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Emeritus Prof. Peter Okebukola OFR has received an award of Excellence for his service to quality higher education delivery in West Africa.

The award ceremony which took place at the Windhoek country club and resort conference center Namibia was organized by the Association of African Universities (AAU) as part of its activities marking the conference of Rectors, Vice-Chancellors and Presidents of African Universities tagged REViP2023.

Prof. Okebukola was specifically single out by the AAU and honoured as it’s “Higher Education Ambassador for West Africa” for his shining, exemplary and innovative role played in the delivery of quality higher education in West Africa.

Minister of higher education, innovation and technology, Namibia , Hon. Dr. Itah-Kandji Murangi declared the conference opened.

The conference with the theme “Advancing Excellence in African Higher Education” has in attendance a high powered team from NOUN led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Isaac Buswat. Other members are Dean faculty of agricultural science, Prof. Ahmed Njiddah with the Centre Director, Africa Center of Excellence on technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL) Prof. Grace Jokthan providing the support structure holding team NOUN in sharing this great feat.
