ACETEL  /   News and events   /   NEWLY ACQUIRED ERP IS A GAME...

The recently acquired Exams Results Presentation software by the Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL) and deployed for the smooth administration of exams and assessments at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has been described as an excellent move and a new dawn in the administration of exams in the university.

While appraising the exams software, the university head of programming in the Directorate of Exams and Assessments (DEA), Buhari Alhassan said with the new development, the university has leaped from the challenge of manual and tedious result presentation which was characterize by so many difficulties to a realm of ease and tranquility as far as exams results collation and analysis is concern at the university.

“The university has been facing a challenge in terms of result presentation. The primary challenge back then was we do it manually whenever we process results, we dispatch it to each department using a CD. The various department will need to come physically to the DEA to collect these CD as well as submit their prayers in terms of any correction or moderation on the results so as for it to be captured on the local saver. This has caused the department a lot of time wastages and concerns particularly when it comes to harvesting the list of graduating students.

“For that we came up with the need of procuring a new platform named ‘Exams Results Presentation System’ (ERP) which ACETEL came to the rescue. The ERPS enabled the stakeholders; lecturers, Heads of Departments who has business with the exams results will now seat at the comfort of their offices when results are out, the statistics of the results will be displayed on their system. From there, they would be able to harvest their graduation list, submit their prayers by a click of a button which will be reflected here at the DEA for us to adjust appropriately. Same ease applies to those graduating”.

The head DEA’s programming unit of the university further explained that the platform when put to a vigorous test, it has proven its capacity to all stakeholders beyond reasonable doubt.

When asked what impact would the software bring to the university community, Buhari added “It has brought ease and tranquility in the process of results collation and analysis. In the manual process, the exam officer of a department will need to come up with the numbers of those who are graduating and under what category. But in this new setting, as they are viewing the results, all the analysis of results, class and point etc is embedded. In a nut shell it brings ease and simplicity to those concern”.
